Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981

The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 are the foundation of workplace first aid law in the UK. These regulations require employers to: Provide adequate and appropriate first aid equipment, facilities, and personnel. Conduct a needs assessment to determine the level of first aid provision necessary. Ensure first aiders are suitably trained and qualified. Failure to comply with these regulations can result in enforcement actions from regulatory bodies and put employees' health at significant risk. At Pro-Safety Group, our courses align with these requirements, ensuring that businesses can confidently meet their legal duties.

Health and Safety Executive (HSE) Guidance - L74

The HSE's L74 guidance document ("First Aid at Work: The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 – Guidance on Regulations") provides practical advice on: How to assess first aid needs. The number of trained first aiders required, depending on workplace size and risk levels. Content recommendations for first aid kits. Standards for training providers and qualifications for first aiders.
